Merry Christmas

I sincerely hope everyone can stay safe, but things are not looking too good are they.

I always make a December Daily journal each year. I won’t have very much to put in it again this year, but we are doing our best to hold on to the Christmas Spirit.

I started by making a little bag to hold my journal, my mother taught me how to use a sewing machine last year, but I am pretty hopeless at it! My excuse is I cannot feel my foot so I don’t know when I’m pressing the pedal !

For my journal I used a small book binding kit I received as a blog prize quite a few years ago. I had not made this type of journal before. You use thread to stitch  the pages in. I also cut down my old Christmas papers which I’ve had for years, so it was a bit of a mismatch. But I have so many scrapbook papers I really need to use them up.

Our Christmas tree this year.

I wish you the happiest Christmas it is possible to have , stay safe xx

December Daily, Book Folding and Napkins

I have finally completed my December Daily for 2019! I cut a selection of pages, envelopes, tags etc, originallyI was going to use book rings. I soon decided that they looked too bulky, so I opted for ribbon instead.

I wanted to keep it simple and easy to do, so I used a pad of stickers from Kaiserkraft which incorporated numbers from 1 to 31 which were very useful.

I have also recently tried book folding for the first time.

I also recycled a beautiful Deer image from a serviette.
Thank you for visiting xx

Underwater Mini Book Cover

I have always loved seahorses so when I saw 49 and Market's gorgeous Sea and  Sand paper pad, I knew it would be perfect for my mini book to scrapbook the few days I recently spent at the seaside. Then I saw they had matching seahorse stamps ! So of course I just had to get those too!

I decided to use the front cover of the pad as my mini book cover and covered it in gesso, then I had my doubts as it got a bit soggy poggy, but luckily it was ok when it dried out. I made a a background with watercolours and used embossing powder in olive for the seaweed. For the air bubbles I embossed some with clear and others with white. I watercoloured the lovely seahorses and stamped Indigoblu's bubble stamp all around the edges and heat embossed them  in white.

I finished off by spreading some bead gel over the bottom of the cover. This was my first play with the stamps and I am looking forward to using them again.

Thank you so much for stopping by, I would like to share this with the following challenges.

Found An Old Scrapbook in the Attic

My sister was up in the attic again, and this week she found one of my childhood scrapbooks. It was from 1977 the year of the Queens Silver Jubilee. I was a crafter even back then ! It was one of those old fashioned childrens scrapbooks made out of sugar paper.

On the first page I had glued some Silver Jubilee ribbon down the side and pasted what must have been pictures from magazines of the perfect Silver Jubille dinner table !

The second page was more interesting it included an iron on Silver Jubilee badge which was apparently free with a newspaper, and a milk bottle top decorated with a crown and text saying Silver Jubilee. In those days milk used to actually come in bottles and it was delivered to your door by a milkman! The birds often used to peck through the silver tops for a free morning drink! On this page I also included a celebration postage stamp.

It is all in remarkably good condition, I am sure it is not acid or lignen free, but it has survived all these years unscathed, better than me actually!

Hope you all have a good weekend. What an historic day it was today for our Great Country.

A surprise and finally finished 2015 book

I had a lovely surprise this evening. My Believe card was selected as one of the top five at The Allsorts Challenge Blog.Thank you so much, there are so many very talented ladies taking part I was lucky to have been chosen!

Today I finally finished my 2015 em err do I call it a scrapbook,or a diary or a journal? It's certainly not an Art Journal, that is something I want to eventually try my hand at, it's too small for a conventional scrapbook.... Em...oh well I will just call it a book recording 2015.

I covered my book in a cloud fabric and I cut out Classic Pooh and Piglet from some other fabric and stitched them on. I added a little bit of stuffing to Pooh to make him stand out. I cut out and then stitched on lots of wild poppies. I don't have a sewing machine and my hand stitching is not too wonderful so please don't look too close!
