In Memory of Raymond Briggs

I don’t think anyone could imagine Christmas without The Snowman, he is an intrinsic part of Christmas. Raymond Briggs gave the world The Snowman, Snowdog, The Bear, Fungus the Bogey Man, When the Wind Blows, and Ethel and Ernest. We are all so grateful for his talent and imagination.

I have made these two tags in his memory.

Thank you for visiting, take care it is very hot here at the moment xx

Christmas Gift Tags

It is feeling a lot more wintery recently, so thoughts immediately turn to Christmas. I have all of my gifts sorted out already, I don’t actually have them yet but I know what I am going to buy.So that is a good start, thank goodness for online shopping! A few weeks ago I made some special tags to tie onto my gifts.  I still have a lot more Christmas cards to make, I hope to be able to make some more soon. The list gets longer and longer every year!

I cut my tags from water colour card and stamped over my water coloured background with these gorgeous silhouette images. I used white Gouache  paint for my snow, and added lots of glitter too.You  just can’t have Christmas without lots and lots of glitter, but  it does get everywhere! I finished by threading some organza ribbons onto my tags.

I decided not to buy any new Christmas wrapping paper this year as I am slightly addicted to buying gorgeous Christmas wrappings 😀 So I am determined to use up what I already have. Hopefully these tags will match the papers.

Stay safe, and thank you so much for visiting  ❤❤

December Daily, Book Folding and Napkins

I have finally completed my December Daily for 2019! I cut a selection of pages, envelopes, tags etc, originallyI was going to use book rings. I soon decided that they looked too bulky, so I opted for ribbon instead.

I wanted to keep it simple and easy to do, so I used a pad of stickers from Kaiserkraft which incorporated numbers from 1 to 31 which were very useful.

I have also recently tried book folding for the first time.

I also recycled a beautiful Deer image from a serviette.
Thank you for visiting xx

Bah Humbug

This is most definitely not my own sentiment! I have made this for some one who is a real Bah Humbug person. I used a Christmas Carol stamp set, and stamped out the houses and Mr Scrooge, and coloured them all before fussy cutting and adhering them to my prepared canvas. I found an old fashioned lamp stamp too, and just in case things were not gloomy enough I added in Eeyore!

I generously used texture paste smothered with fine glitter for snow, and added a small twig as a tree. After stamping and colouring some holly leaves at the top of the canvas, I flicked white acrylic paint over the scene as falling snow. Of course I did not forget to add the large Bah Humbug sign to the tree!

Star Of Wonder

I have made this canvas for a friend, who lives opposite the golf club, so he often has foxes visiitng him. One winter he took many photos of a fox happily playing in the snow outside his house. So I tried to recreate that scene for this canvas.

I used a wood fox from Calico Craft Parts, and painted him with acrylics, and added a fluffy tail from some needle felting wool. A brick stencil was useful to suggest his house, and texture paste covered with glitter worked as snow. I also added a some twigs and trees, and my finishing touch was to add battery operated lights.

Thank you for visiting me today, how is  your Christmas crafting going. xx

Snow White

Hello, Snow White is visiting the Indigoblu Blogtoday, I hope you will pay her a visit. She would love to see you!

It now seems that the splint for my arm was not the right treatment! The ultrasound has found three different and what the dr called very complicated problems. I need to see a specialist, and of course the waiting lists are several months long! I am managing to craft just a little at a time, thank goodness I can, as otherwise I would go bonkers!

Some good news a magazine contacted me and they think my “Actually I Can” canvas has a very positive message and they want to feature it in their magazine next month. So glad they liked it,  not everyone did!

Meeting Under The Mistletoe

If you remember my story from 12th December about the hare waiting under the mistletoe, this is the next installment.

For the next 11 days he continued to wash and fluff himself, and travelled to the three pines, to stand hopefully under the mistletoe.. but nobody ever came.

On the 12th day which also happened to be Christmas Eve, he decided this would be his very last visit. He hopped along with hope forever in his heart. As soon as he turned the corner into the three pines he saw the most beautiful and dazzling lady hare waiting patiently under the mistletoe.

She was waiting just for him....

Under The Mistletoe

The spritely young hare had heard that there was some mistletoe growing on the edge of the forest just by the three pines. So he jumped into the lake and washed himself all over including behind his long ears. He used a teasel to brush and fluff his fur, and then ran to the three pines and stood waiting hopefully under the mistletoe.....

All of the stamps I used to create this magical scene are by Lavinia Stamps.

Snowman Scenic Square

I have been busy creating a half dozen of these adorable scenic boxes. Before assembling the mdf pieces
I painted them and then added a coat of crackle.Sitting happily inside this one you can find a snowman or snowlady, a snowflake, both painted and decorated. Some dried elements, flowers pine cone etc, and some sumptuous  pink berries.
I also used mini polystyrene balls, and oh my goodness they went absolutely everywhere! I think I will still be finding them at Easter!

A Breath of New Year Air

I made a much smaller bauble than this one for The Craft Stamper Christmas Decoration Art Call, and I was so lucky to have it selected for publication. So I thought why not make a larger and different one to see in 2017! I made this especially for Indigoblu, and you can see lots of other wonderful projects by the Indigoblu International Design Team here.

I found a box of inexpensive baubles in Hobbycraft which separated in half. Which are just perfect for this project.

I began by stamping the dog from the Indigoblu Clumber Park Stamp set, and fussy cut him. Being sure to leave tabs under his feet as these will be pushed into the snow later.

I die cut 2017 from Shrink Plastic and shrunk it with a heat gun, but this can also be done in an oven.

I mixed texture paste and Unicorn sparkles together and spooned it into each side of the bauble. I had gathered some thyme from the garden and used this as winter trees,

I stood the dog into the back half of the bauble a long with some thyme.

I hung the 2017 onto the trees branches, and added a dab of glue to help keep them in place.

I stood the New Years tree into the snow in the front half of the bauble. When both sides were dry I pushed them together, and hung it with a white ribbon.

Thank you so much for visiting me today : )

Christmas Gift Box

I have a rather large pile of boxes because they maybe useful one day! I have actually used one of those boxes to make a little 3 inch square gift box.

I painted the box pink, and stamped tiny snowflakes on the sides of the lid. The scene on the top was created with watercolours and glitter, and a lovely set of Forest Magic Stamps.

Thank you so much for visiting, I hope to see you again soon!

Alice In Winterland

In the winter, Wonderland becomes Winterland, and Alice loves to walk in the snowy forest.

I painted the top of my 20cm (8inch) canvas with Iced Gem paint, and randomly painted on Snow White metallic paint on the bottom. I used the star stencil and Slap it On to add some raised stars to the top of the canvas and also painted those pink.

I used Archival Olive Ink pad to stamp the trees from the Winterland wood stamp set. I stamped the two distance trees without reinking the stamp, so it gave a more faded and distant look. I used white paint to add snow to the trees which was followed by flitterglu and white glitter.

I stamped and coloured Alice from the Indigoblu Alice stamp set, and stamped the bunnies in black Archival from the Winterland set. I fussy cut them all out and adhered them to the canvas.

I spread glass bead gel medium to the bottom of the canvas to give some glistening texture to the snow. When it was dry, I lightly added white paint to some areas.

I Die cut some snowflakes and stars in various sizes and covered them in Flitterglu and white glitter. I adhered them to the top of the canvas using sticky foam pads.

Thank you so much for visiting, I hope to see you again soon.
