Love the simple things

The weather outside doesn’t exactly look like beach weather today. So I thought I would share a beach themed card, and we can pretend that we are there!

I created my background with watercolours, and I  also used them to colour my little girl too.

To create the sand, I used acrylic paints in raw umber and white and mixed them together with some coarse marble dust.

Artist Trading Coins

I have been creating a lot of artist trading coins recently, they can be quite addictive! Artist trading coins are 2.5 “ circles, which are decorated in any way imaginable. They can be made from mdf, chipboard or thick card. I have been using the mdf ones, but I have recently ordered some blank chipboard at coins for a change. You write your usual artist details on the back as you would for the more traditional artist trading cards. You then of course swap them with other  artists.

I thought I would share some of my coins and ideas.

I edged the coins above with pearls.

I heat embossed these Classic Pooh stamps. These stamps were some of the very first stamps I owned.

I edged them with some bead gel.

I heat embossed these flowers, and added little pearls to them, and edged them  in more white pearls.

I created the background for these coins by making a lace design on my gelli plate, and laying the coins down onto it.

I covered these coins with some vintage pages from an Alice In Wonderland book.

Heat embossing various stamps to create a little scene.

Back to Classic Pooh to conclude.Thank you for visiitng xx

Flower Meadow

Hello, how are you? Thank you for stopping by xx Today I can share my card, which was in last months Craft Stamper. The new edition is out this month with lots of wonderful articles in!

A meadow full of wildflowers is one of my most favourite sights to behold! I created the background for my 7in/7.78cm square  blank  card by using Aquamarkers. I scribbled them onto a splodge mat, following with a spritz of water.I laid the front of the card  into the colours, and lifted it up to reveal the pattern. If I wasn’t  happy with the result, I would have let it dry and repeated.

I used the ink pad to stamp out my chosen stamps, which I watercolured before fussy cutting. I shuffled  them around my card without adhering, until I was happy with the result. I could then see where the most suitable place would be to stamp the sentiment.

I used foam pads to adhere the girl and flowers to the background. I created the meadow grass by cutting a piece of card 7in/17.78 cm x 2in/5.08cm and then cutting a fringe along the length. To give the grass a more realistic look I snipped diagonally into the grass blades, and curled some of them a little. I adhered it to the bottom of the card, and placed another flower in between the grass blades.

I was surprised and delighted a few days ago to discover  that a card I made for a family friends 91st birthday had won a prize in Papercraft Inspirations! I am happy to say she loved her card, and I will send her the page from the magazine, she will be thrilled!

Thank you so much for visiting, take care xx

Imagitation can take you anywhere !

I am always finding pressed flowers in between book pages, so after  experimenting with stamping on pressed rose petals  ( please see this postI thought I would try using punches with them. I began by gluing my pressed rose petals onto card, I used a Pritt glue stick. I then  used the beautiful  Fiskars punch to create lots of  rose petal butterflies.

I created a sky background with watercolours, and stamped the lovely little Phyllis Harris Stamp by
Unity onto card. After giving her some colour I carefully cut around her, and adhered her to the background. I wanted the butterflies to float her up and away to a magical land. So I arranged the butterflies above her and drew a line from the butterflies to her hands. I stamped the brilliant quote next to her,  I love that sentiment - imagination really can take you anywhere...

Thank you for stopping by, I am off to Alexandra Palace tomorrow for the big craft show.

Fiskarettes Design Team Reach For The Stars

I am very happy and honoured to reveal today that I have joined the talented Fiskars UK Design Team. I will be creating with them for the next 3 months. I have been crafting since I was old enough to use scissors, and I have always used Fiskars scissors and trimmers. I have found them to be of the highest quality and never let me down.

My first project for Fiskarettes UK is ‘Reach For The Stars”

I painted the box frame in a metallic white paint and punched stars out of masking paper and placed them over the top. I then painted over the frame in blue paint, and when dry I  removed the stars.

For the hills I used the circle punch and folded them in half and overlapped them, adhering them together.I covered the hills in texture paste before painting them.

I used invisible thread to hang  one of the glittery stars from the inside top of the frame

The lovely girl Stamp is drawn by the amazingly talentedPhyllis Harris and made by  Unity Stamps

Thank you for visiting and Happy 2018 xx

I used one of Phyllis Harris's gorgeous stamps for this card. I paper pieced the little girls dress and also mounted it onto the same patterned paper. I love watercolours so of course I used them to create the background and also to colour the lovely characters.

A Sunshiny Day

I love Phyllis Harris stamps, and this lovely little girl is another of her wonderful creations! I had a lot of fun creating a Summer Meadow for her to wander in. Craft Stamper have very kindly published it in there August edition, so the details about how I made her meadow can be found in there.

Let's hope the sun starts shining for real soon!

I posted this on Unity Stamps Facebook page and Phyllis Harris the artist who created the stamp left a comment! How very kind was that!
