Alice In Wonderland Secret Passages Journal

Almost a year ago I went to an immersive Alice In Wonderland Show in the Vaults theatre. The vaults are unused old arches under Waterloo Station, London. I took the wheelchair path which was a little different, to everybody else’s, but there were still lots of passages and turns and surprises. I wanted to represent this in my little journal of the fun time spent there.

I included opening doorways, envelopes, hidden tags along with photos and clippings from the programme.

I folded down the top of this page.

The page unfolded.

Another fold down page with pockets .

Next you need to flip the book over and it folds down three times. I think I missed one page when I was taking the photos. There are also lots of fold outs and pockets etc which are difficult to show in the photos.

Some more fold outs.

There is another page underneath which I forgot to take a photo of. It was fun to create this journal, and brings back happy memories when I look through it again.

On the 7th July it is Alice Day here in the UK, and I am hosting my first  Alice Challenge Celebration to spread the joy of Alice. I hope you will be able to join in the fun, any crafts, cards, journals, scrapbook pages, canvas, mixed media etc are welcome.  More information on how to join in the fun here

Alice In Wonderland Challenge

Every Year in the UK there is an Alice In Wonderland Day, this year it is on the 7th of July. I thought it would be Wonderful to have an Alice Crafting Celebration! There are so very many talented crafters/ designers who I know also love Alice. So I hope we can have fun and fill our blogs with Alice! There are so many different inspirations for Alice - tea party, roses, playing card, hearts, hares, rabbits..

I have a dedicated Alice page with more info here. It is all for fun, with some Alice themed goodies  (see below) for a random Alice friend to win.

I created my “Alice Falling Down A Rabbit Hole” by strongly persuading some bark to wrap around a circular wooden piece! The Alice stamp is by Artistic Stamper but I am not sure if it is still available to buy. I coloured her dress and stockings blue so I hope it meets their paint it blue challenge. I used invisible thread to dangle a key, hearts, clubs, spades and other Alice whatnots down into the rabbit hole.I would also like to enter Cut It Up Anything But A Card and We love to Create Mixed Media

Thank you so much for visiting xx

Papercraft Magazines

Hello how are you today? I hope you are ok. I have recently been very lucky to have  a couple of my cards in Papercraft magazines. This bear one is in Papercraft Essentials. He is having a jolly time celebrating someone’s birthday!

My seahorse card is in a fairly new magazine called Love Cardmaking  It comes with free stamps and dies every month. I used lots of glass bead gel on this card to try and give a shimmery undersea look.

I am currently working on some special Alice in Wonderland whatnots for July!

It looks like it will be a sunny weekend coming up, I hope you have a lovely sunny time.

Thank you so much for visiting today xx

By The Sea

I love the sea, although sadly I do not see it very often, and then I only see it from a distance as unfortunately beaches are not wheelchair accessible, but at least I can see it for which I am very  grateful.
With the sea in mind I created this 7x7  card. The background is from the gelli plate. I inked up the gelli plate and then placed the netting from some tangerines over the top, and it left this nice netty pattern. I cut some pieces of bark for the seagull to stand on, I must admit I don’t like seagulls as one of them swooped behind me last year and snatched my sandwich right out of my hands!

I also added some art stones and few tiny shells, some stamped and some real.To finish off I wound some twine around the edge of the circle.

The stamps I used  are by Crafty Secrets.

Thank you for visiting today, have a lovely day. Hugs xx

Hang In There Art Journal Cover

Hello how are you today, well I hope. I have nearly completed my latest art journal, this is my first one made by Jane Davenport. I love all  of her products, although I don’t have many. I didn’t cover my book before I started and of course I soon realised it was getting  very inky, painty spalshy!

Here is the messy cover!

I don’t have much space to keep my journals, and I knew it would need to be squashed in somewhere so the cover had to be one flat layer only. I began by applying two coats of gesso.  I used a Daler Rowney gesso as it was on offer in Hobbycraft, and it works very well even though it is a bit thinner than some of them.  I dabbed on some blue and pink acrylic paints with a sponge.I love the girl on a swing stencil by Clarity Stamps, which I used  with some black paint. I heat embossed all of the flowers which are by Lavinia Stamps. The art in my journal represents my struggles so I thought the “Hang In There” sentiment from a Phyliss Harris Stamp kit was very fitting!

Thank you for stopping by, and hang in there friends!

Bee kind

Today I am sharing a very heartfelt canvas “Bee Kind”.

I began with a blank white box canvas, which is always daunting. My first step was to use a honeycomb die cut as a stencil and applied texture paste into it. I really should buy a honeycomb stencil as I think I would use it a lot so it would be a good investment. When the paste was dry I painted some light  brown acrylic over it.

More waiting time was needed so I heat embossed the bees in black, and coloured them. I added glitter to the wings, and fussy cut them. I use Spectrum Noir clear glitter pens, they are easy to use and give a lovely clear sparkle.

I used my Versamarker pen over the top of each honeycomb piece,  and sprinkled clear embossing powder over it.I  heated it up to give a glossy drippy  honey look !

After a light coating of brown paint over the canvas I used a sponge to dab on some rose and yellow

acrylic colours to the edges. I always spritzed my sponge with water first as it helps the paint to move more easily.

Chipboard Letters would have been good, but of course as always I did not have all of the letters to spell “Kind”. I used thin card letters instead, and painted them rose, and clear embossed. I attached some of the little bees to each letter

The canvas looked a bit bare in places so I stamped a script stamp using the light brown paint. Remembering to wash it immediately afterwards, have you ever tried removing dried acrylic paint from a stamp - I don’t recommend it : )

Thank you so much for visiting I truly appreciate it xx
