Magical Winter Unicorn Forest

I used a Lavinia Stamps Unicorn, and he told me that he wanted to be in a Magical Winter Forest! I decided to use a mixture of watercolours, glass beads, and gems to make a mystical home for him.

A close up pic of the frosty icicles, I love glass beads! : )

Thank you so much for visiting me today. I would love to read any comments you might have, and I look forward to visiting your blog too!

The Wishing Tree

On the Morning of Christmas Eve some very special deers gather around the Wishing Tree. This tree is the tallest one in the forest, and it is covered in twinkling stars. The deers know how very lucky they are, as they have magical abilities which bring joy to so many all over the world. So on this special morning they gather around their tree to give heartfelt thanks, and they each close their eyes tightly and make a special wish.......

You can find all the details about how I created this Wishing Tree on the Indigoblu Blog.

May all your Christmas Wishes come true xxx

Bonfire Night Treat Tray

On Bonfire Night you always need a hot mug of tea to keep you warm. Of course you need an all important toffee apple too!

I painted a papier mache tray with Grandmas Teacup paint, and added some sparkling stars using the stars stencil and Snow White Metallic paint.

I die cut a mug template and decorated it with stamps from the Indigoblu Steampunkesque Stamp set. I added some colour to the lady with Gelatos . To match the tray I added some stars as before, but using blue instead of white.i assembled the mug and adhered it onto the tray and added an all important Toffee Apple.

My Grandfather Frederick Simmonds

This canvas is dedicated to my Grandfather Frederick Simmonds. He joined the Oxford and Bucks Army to fight in the First World War aged just 14 years old. In this photo he is with a Belgium family who took him under their wing when he was stationed there.

He was 18 years old when the war ended, his brother John died at The Somme on the 1st of July 1916.

Papercrafter Magazine very kindly wrote a small article about my Grandfather in their Remembrance Day Pages. Thank you so much.

Autumnal Loom

I added some Indigoblu Luscious pigment powders into a water filled spray bottle and shook it gently to mix.The pigment powder leaves a lovely sparkly sheen on the paper

I sprayed the watercolour paper and also added some watercolours in Autumnal shades. I stamped the sentiment from IndigoBlu's Live,Laugh,Love Stamp Set, using a metallic inkpad in Mineral.

I decided to create a Nature loom and weave it with beautiful leaves, berries etc from the forest, along with my chosen sentiment.I used twigs for the frame and created the loom with string.

Crafting at Alexandra Palace

The view over London was a bit misty.

Myself and my Mother went to the Craft Show Ally Pally yesterday. it was very, very cold quite a change from the last few hot humid days!

We decided to go so I could meet the Indigoblu team.I was a little nervous to meet them, but Kay, Jenny and Alfie were all so lovely and very kind, hugs all round! I tend to worry that maybe the things I make are not good enough, especially when compared to all of the talented artists out there.

They were very complimentary about my little whatnots, so I feel reassured that I am doing them justice. I am so very lucky and honoured to be on their International Design Team.

With Kay

With Jenny.
I also met up with the lovely Sue who has recently joined the Indigoblu team, but we both forgot to take photos!

Here you can see the beautiful Rose stained glass window in the hall.
It was very, very busy in the hall!

The Indigoblu stand was wonderfully busy with all of the Indigoblu fans.
My favourite canvas by Elizabeth Robinson was on display
(near the top right in the photo)

Gorgeous works on show!

My Indigoblu goodies I bought.

I really enjoyed seeing the very talented Sandra's work on the Inkylicious stand.

There was a stand there called "Every Craft a Pound" I couldn't get close but my mum struggled in and got some goodies for me which I had spotted from afar! A frame, chipboards, foam pads, cards!

I won't be able to use my goodies for a while, as this Tuesday I am having an op on a finger on my right hand (I am right handed), but I will be thinking up all sorts of ideas for when I can craft again, which will hopefully be soon.

Back to School Matchbox drawers and Mini Books

Hello, I hope everyone has had a good summer. Its my most favourite time of the year, and it's always sad to see it slip into Autumn. It's now time for children to return to school so this months challenge at Mixed Media Mojo is Back to School with a Twist of Primary Colours.

I made this little set of drawers with a little girl making the best of her last days of school holidays, and happily flying her kite .

You can find many templates for matchboxes on Google. When you have found the one you like, print it onto card and carefully cut it out. I decided to make a three drawer box. Before assembling the boxes I coloured each one in primary colours. I used ink dusters to apply the dye inks. The boxes could also be covered in pretty papers, we all have plenty of those!

I stacked the boxes on top of one another and used PVA glue to keep them in place. A small decorative brad can be added as a handle.
I stamped and water coloured a lovely Phyllis Harris girl stamp. I wanted her to stand up on top of the box so I left a tab on the bottom of the stamp. I folded the tab up and glued it to the top of the box.

A diamond shape cut out of some card works well as a kite. I adhered it to some wire and placed it on top of the match box to appear as if the girl is holding on to it.

Now what to put inside the drawers? You could put small sweets or mini gifts such as erasers, pencil toppers etc I decided to make some miniature books. I used my Wizard of Oz, Alice in Wonderland and Classic Pooh stamps, to decorate both sides of the miniature accordian books.

Thank you,so much for stopping by. I hope to see you again soon.
